This diary is pretty much me just bitching like the whiney bitch that I am, haha. I need to vent.
I try to respect the opinions of others. Really, I do. But sometimes there are just things that people say that I can't understand, that I cannot ignore, that I can't be nice to (so I typically don't post any kind of response because I know I'll verbally hack them to pieces--or I think I will).
One of my biggest pet peeves in regards to the abortion debate is the "Oh, adoption is a loving option" kind of argument. "There's no such thing as an unwanted child."
To that statement, I can only laugh. If I don't laugh, I'll rage. Right now I'm kinda raging and laughing at the same time. Perhaps I've finally lost my sanity (if I had any in the first place).
They neglect to mention the 125,000 children in the Foster Care system that, you know, aren't being adopted. But that's not proof enough for them because even if you point that out, they're still going to jump around and sing about the awesomeness of the Holy adoption.
And then they say "it should be cheaper to adopt!"
Well, derp, pardon me for suggesting this, as I probably shouldn't, but there is this thing called the Foster Care system. I don't know if you've heard of it. It's pretty new. And uh, well, if someone adopts from the FC system, it's ... Well, how do I say this... THE STATE WILL PAY YOU. It's so cheap YOU GET MONEY FOR IT.
But noooooooooooooooooooooooooo. They'd rather shell out a brand new car's worth of money for a BABY.
They call Pro-Choicers selfish; they call women who abort selfish; yet it is NOT selfish IN ANY WAY AT ALL EVER to demand a BABY, demand that a woman go through a pregnancy, put her life and health at risk so that she can hand over her baby like it's the easiest thing in the whole wide universe! Oh, and then they add that there is no unwanted child! They talk about how self-less adoption is.
Yes, adoption is so self-less, the baby-less Lifers want to force women to have babies for them. And that totally isn't selfish at all in any way (what are you talking about? How could it POSSIBLY be selfish to demand that someone go through invasive medical procedures and a risky condition, then the hell of labor and delivery--possibly a major abdominal surgery--to hand over their baby to me? It's not selfish I tell you!)
Ugh.
Also, Romania. Tell those orphans that they aren't unwanted. Get back to me when you do. I want to know what they say.
